Since the penning of Morning and Evening over 100 years ago, this devotional classic has become hugely popular and been a favorite for millions worldwide. This Baptist preacher spent more than 30 years preaching in the famed New Park Street Chapel, prepared nearly 3600 sermons, and wrote nearly 50 books. His legacy also includes his amazing treatment of Calvinist and Puritan teaching, a “Down Grade Controversy” near the end of his life, and a funeral fit for a head of state.

There are two readings per day, one designed for the morning and the other designed for the evening. His writings not only will affect the day, but the refreshing devotions are intended for eternal impact.

Wonderfully narrated by James Adams, this outstanding devotional is worthy of daily listening. Spurgeon’s best known work comes alive through nuanced and meaningful narration, almost as if Spurgeon himself was encouraging us in matters faith, love and devotion to God.

Pros and cons of Morning and Evening: a daily audio devotional app for iPhone and iPad

Morning and Evening: a daily audio devotional app good for

I love this app! Being able to listen to the great Charles Spurgeons devotional is a beautiful way to begin and end ones day!
I have read Morning and Evening in book form, e-text, and even have the audio book format. This is by far my favorite format! I love that it instantly takes you to the correct day and time (morning or evening) and it plays the audio. If you skip a day it moves ahead with you to the correct date. And if you really want to make up the days you missed you can easily slide the calendar back to the dates you want. It also lets you bookmark the passages you want to refer back to or share with a friend! The audio quality and narration are great. It added a nice devotional thought to the end of my day as I sat on the front porch watching the sun go down.
The UI is great and the narrator is great. I wish the text is also included so we can read the devotion during times audio is not permitted and headphones are unavailable.
I use this app on my iPod touch with wifi and like it a lot. I appreciate being able to listen to the devotional when I might not have had time to read it otherwise. Volume is a little soft but narration is good; automatically loads the current days devotional. Great app.
Ive been waiting for this app or something like it. Ive done M&E podcasts before, but this is super-convenient. My only hope would be to have some text to read-along to. Oh, and the voice theyve used is perfect. I imagine Chuck speaking with this voice/accent too.
What an outstanding app! Spurgeons devotional (in book form) has proven to be such a blessing in my life. And now I may say the same for this wonderfully simple app. Many thanks to its creators; it has already earned a spot on the front screen of my iPhone.

Some bad moments

I have seen the good reviews for this app and I am sure I would enjoy it too if it would work for me. It streams about 10 seconds of audio then quits. I have not heard even one devotion. Im disappointed. BTW, it is not my connection. I have great cell service and the latest wifi, Internet, and iPhone. I daily stream internet radio on my phone. Why wont this stream? I even tried reinstalling it to no avail. :( Pls fix.
The narraters voice and manner is uppety and hoity toitey. Guess if you like old school thees and thous and shakespeare this might be the app for you
